DANAE BUMBARGER ~ Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Danae, a cardiac sonographer, was recently named DuBois Regional Medical Center’s Employee of the Month. She earned her associate’s degree from South Hills and is registered as a diagnostic cardiac sonographer responsible for cardiovascular ultrasound exams. Danae has been employed at DRMC since August 2007.

Scott Solnosky, the Cariopulmonary, Sleep Lab, and Cardiac Rehab supervisor, states, “Danae has proven to be a valued asset as well as a strong team player…She carries with her the ability to always demonstrate the ‘five Cs’: caring attitude, confidentiality, communications, collaboration, and customer satisfaction. She is always kind and courteous to all her patients and coworkers.”




Scott Laukhuff ~ Computer Information Systems (now Information Technology)


Scott graduated from South Hills in 2003. For the past five years, Scott has worked for Penn State’s Management Development Technology Group as an Information Technology Specialist.
Along with working at Penn State, Scott is the current host of Centre Sportsman, a television show which focuses on the outdoors. The show airs in Centre County as well as Harrisburg, York, and Lancaster. He states, “I have been very fortunate to graduate from South Hills, and I feel that the school has changed my life for the better.”



Andrew Youstic ~ Computer Information Systems (now Information Technology)

A 2002 graduate of South Hills School of Business & Technology, Andrew is currently enrolled in Central Pennsylvania College’s online computer science program. Along with taking courses, Andrew works full-time at Pennsylvania State University as a systems administrator for the Mathematics Department.

Recently, Andrew has been appointed as a student-elect member of the State Board of Education and is the first proprietary school student to be appointed. Two previous appointments have come from the independent college and university sector and the State System of Higher Education.




Scott T. Cunningham ~ Business Administration: Management & Marketing

Scott, a 2009 graduate from our Altoona location, produced the following commercial about South Hills as part of his team's business plan:






MARK PARFITT ~ Business Administration: Management & Marketing

From 179 applicants, Adirondack Community College in Queensbury, New York, selected Mark Parfitt (2005 South Hills graduate) to be the director of marketing and community relations. He has been in this position since July 1 of 2009. He is responsible for designing the college’s website, developing course catalogs, and creating other publications as dictated by the college. Additionally, he is in charge of advertising and communicating with alumni.

“It’s absolutely vital,” Mark’s new boss, ACC Vice President for Institutional Advancement Joe Cutshall-King, said of Mark’s position. “This position helps give the college a voice in the world.”




Kasi Jackson ~ Office Technology Specialist (now Administrative Professional)


Kasi, a 2008 South Hills graduate, is the Secretary to the Superintendent and the Board of Education Secretary for the West Branch Area School District. Her job duties include making and receiving telephone calls, typing correspondence letters, setting up board meetings, preparing board agendas and packets, scheduling interviews, filing, sending out letters and mailings, making copies, sending faxes, and performing various other tasks.

“It’s (South Hills) like the second family I never had…South Hills helped me to find my confidence as a person and provided me with comfort knowing that I would have the tools to find a rewarding job after graduation and be able to help provide for my daughter, Kayleigh, and my fiancé, Brad.”
