Course Descriptions

Accounting is the financial language of business and having a skilled accountant is essential to a business's success. A good accountant is needed by virtually every business and our program's placement success supports that. Students in this program gain a solid foundation in current accounting practices, especially in financial accounting. Students also obtain valuable computer skills in accounting software, spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications. Nationally, according to the Federal Bureau of Labor and Statistics, accounting employment is expected to grow faster than the national average through the year 2014. After completing the BAA program, some of our grads decide to continue their education by pursuing their baccalaureate degree. South Hills School of Business & Technology currently has articulation agreements with Central Penn College, Mount Aloysius College, and St. Francis University, which enables our BAA grads to make an easy transition to a four-year school should they decide to follow that path.
